Lance's Memorial .jpg

Lance John Campbell December 7, 1939 to May 16, 2023 Lance John Campbell, age 83, passed away on May 16th, after a brief stay at the DMC's Huron Valley Hospital in Commerce Township. He passed just before family could arrive but was calm and comfortable as he was joining his cherished wife Doreen. Lance was born, in Detroit, on December 7th, 1939, to Oscar Campbell and Marguerite (Barr) Campbell. He was a devoted and Loving son, brother, husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. Lance and his wife Doreen Davis (who preceded him in death on August 3, 2021) were married for 62 years. They married in 1959 and had four children. Robyn (Tracy) Joiner, Tracey (Wally) Jambeck, Larry (Cece) Campbell, and Gary (Sally) Campbell. They were blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Lance and Doreen resided in Walled Lake Michigan for most of their married life. They also spent many weekends and long summers in Oscoda Michigan where their hearts resided. In 1981 Lance opened the family business, Campbell's Collision in Waterford Michigan. Both he and Doreen were committed to the business, customers, community and their employees whom they treated like family. He sold the business to his sons and retired in 2002. Lance was an avid outdoorsman who involved Doreen and his kids in all of his outdoor hobbies. He loved sharing his greatest joy with everyone he knew. Often, inviting family and friends snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing at his cabin in Gaylord. Later he became enthused about Salmon fishing in the Great Lakes. It was 1985 when he bought into the undeveloped AuSable Huron Condominium Campground in Oscoda. Both Lance and Doreen poured their hearts and lots of hard work into making the campground and especially the marina special for everyone. Lance was on the Board of the Marina for many years. His love of fishing lead him to join the Lake Huron Citizens Advisory Committee. Almost everyone they know has been fishing with Lance, involved in the campground, or vacationed with them. "Life should be enjoyed" was a philosophy that Lance lived by. He worked hard so he could buy all the toys he deemed necessary to play hard. It also allowed him the luxury to include many others. He was a great man and an amazing family man. He will be missed by many. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in honor of Lance Campbell Hospitality House Food Pantry, 2075 E.
